چکیده

PERIPHERAL arteriovenous aneurysms cause chronic increases in cardiac work load and heart failure may result. These phenomena have been widely observed in patients1 4 and in experimental animals.0 However, there still appears to be doubt concerning the cardiovascular effects of such aneurysms when they are located above the heart.8-12 Hemodynamic measurements in eight patients with cerebral arteriovenous aneurysms have convinced us that such lesions can produce circulatory changes qualitatively similar in all respects to those caused be extracranial arteriovenous aneurysms. This report presents our observations.

Hemodynamic Characteristics of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation Feeder Vessels With and Without Aneurysms.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The pathogenesis of aneurysms associated with cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) feeder vessels is poorly understood. We sought to determine the hemodynamic characteristics of AVM feeder vessels with and without aneurysms. METHODS Patients with AVMs associated with feeder aneurysms who had flow, vessel diameter, and wall shear stress measured before treatment usi...

Simulation study of Hemodynamic in Bifurcations for Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation using Electrical Analogy

Background and Objective: Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (CAVM) hemodynamic is disease condition, results changes in the flow and pressure level in cerebral blood vessels. Measuring flow and pressure without catheter intervention along the vessel is big challenge due to vessel bifurcations/complex bifurcations in Arteriovenous Malformation patients. The vessel geometry in CAVM patients are...

Cerebral arteriovenous malformations with associated arterial aneurysms: hemodynamic and therapeutic considerations.

The common vascular anomalies of cerebral aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation may exist independently, or together as part of a closely related hemodynamic pairing. Resection or embolization of an AVM may be followed by a decrease in local blood flow, and lead to regression of a suitably situated proximal aneurysm. However, aneurysms located outside the angioarchitecture of the AVM, which r...

Aneurysms related to cerebral arteriovenous malformations: superselective angiographic assessment in 58 patients.

PURPOSE To report the comprehensive superselective angiographic characteristics of aneurysms associated with cerebral arteriovenous malformations. METHOD One hundred consecutive patients referred for cerebral arteriovenous malformation embolization underwent preembolization superselective angiography. Superselective angiograms were obtained after microcatheterization of arteriovenous malforma...

Teaching NeuroImages: spontaneous asymptomatic occlusion of a cerebral arteriovenous malformation.

Adam Strzelczyk, MD Ulrich Sure, MD Felix Rosenow, MD A 34-year-old man with refractory epilepsy due to an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the right postcentral gyrus (figure, A) was evaluated for epilepsy surgery.1 After study of the size, location, and depth of the lesion, we decided to defer resection, radiosurgery, and embolization because of concern that intervention would result in ne...
